Pakistan is 5th most populous country of the world. According to 2017 census of Pakistan, the estimated population of Pakistan is 207.7 approximately. Some areas of Pakistan have rapid growth rate while a few others have moderate or less growth rate. The population distribution depends on the unevenness of land, history of cities, climatic and social conditions.

Population Distribution in Pakistan: Distribution of population varies in all provinces of Pakistan. An overview of the population in the provinces is as follows:

Punjab: Punjab is the most populous province of Pakistan. It has 56% of total population of Pakistan. The population of Punjab is 110 million. Lahore is not only the provincial capital of Punjab but also the biggest city. Other major cities of Punjab are: Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Kasur and Rawalpindi.

Sindh: It is the second-most populous province of Pakistan with 23% of the total population i.e. approximately 47 million residents. Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, is Pakistan’s largest city. Hyderabad, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, and Umerkot are major cities of the Sindh.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: it is the third populous province of Pakistan. It has 13% of Pakistan’s population i.e. approximately 30 million. The provincial capital of KPK is Peshawar. Mardan, Swat and Mansehra are major cities of this province.
