Sindh is known as Bab-ul-Islam, Islam flourished rapidly in Sindh after the arrival of Muhammad Bin Qasim. Many people converted to Islam by their own choice because there was no caste system in Islam and everyone had equal rights irrespective of their religion, caste, color and creed, etc.

Reason of Attack on Sindh: Muslim traders were nestled at the shore of Sri Lanka. in 8th century, a few Muslim groups including children and women were on a voyage to Arab. When the ship reached the Debal port, it was attacked by pirates. The Pirates robbed the luggage and material and prisoned the children and women. The governor of Basra, Hajjaj Bin Yousuf, came to know this incident. He wrote a letter to Raja Dahir of Sindh to arrest those robbers and free the children and women along with their luggage. Raja Dahir refused to do this. That refusal made Hajjaj Bin Yousuf very furious. He decided to punish the Raja Dahir of and sent Muslim army to Sindh.

Muhammad bin Qasim's Attack on Sindh:

Hajjaj Bin Yousuf sent a battalion of 12000 men. He appointed Muhammad Bin Qasim to lead the operation. The army had large number of war weapons, arrows and other war tools. 3000 camels were loaded with war materials. Muhammad Bin Qasim and his army reached Sindh in 712 AD. he besieged the area of Debal, although Debal was a large city with an unprecedented defensive system.

A high wall was built around the city. Outside the wall, a wide ditch, filled with water, was there. Due to the defensive system, Muhammad Bin Qasim besieged the area for months but the enemy was not affected by besieging. After the struggle of several days, the Muslim army reached the fort, opened its door and occupied the whole city. After conquering, Muhammad Bin Qasim granted an amnesty. Many people got inspired by the conduct of Muhammad Bin Qasim and accepted Islam. He kept on moving forward along the right bank of Indus River. He got the news that Raja Dahir had reached the left bank with his army and wanted to fight. After a strong battle, Raja Dahir got defeated killed.

After Sindh, Muhammad Bin Qasim travelled towards Multan. The governor of Multan dought with him but did not win. Then after seven days' battle, Muslims won and conquered it too.
